My Memorial Experience-not so good
by wednesday inwell i just got back form the memorial, and well it was not all loving and warm like scobbysnax had.
two or three couples spoke to us, not one elder.
an elder came up to some people who had apparently just showed up for the first time, and they were all over them.

Hi All,
you may know that my oldest has been diagnosed as "High Functioning Autistic." You may not know that he has been put on a very low dose of Adderall a stimulant, and an amphetimine. It has made a huge difference in his life. He was unable to have normal conversation before this.
I was quite reluctant to label and drug my kid. I fought the schools for 3 years. Finally I had to admit that behavior modification, therapy and all the rest were NOT enough. I finally allowed him to be evaluated by a psychiatrist. I was merciless in my interogation of her. I questioned EVERYTHING she said. I made her explain her diagnosis and reccomendations in minute detail. The meds have made a world of difference to this kid. He still has trouble in school but he is so much better at home! He is like a new kid.
Sure in some cases kids are getting drugs they don't need and that is tragic. It would be equally tragic if a kid like mine didn't have the option of a small dose of medication that changes his whole life for the better.

Shera, man, Honey I am so sorry you are really going through it! I too have an autistic child. He is what they call "High Functioning" so I am not dealing with exactly the same things you are. I wish I could offer you some help... I don't know much about autism. With my son his problems are all social. He is aggressive and combative, overly-stubborn and almost charmless when he's having a bad day. (He is incredibly sweet sometimes) His problems are greatly exacerbated by being forces to attend meetings at the KH and out in service. (his dad is a JW) He is currently suffering horribly and I am fighting to try and give him as normal a life as possible. I really hope things work out for you and your son. Hang in there and know that all of us on the board really do care. ~Witch

Mourners offended when JWs target them at the cemetary!
by joe_from_kokomo infriends and 'ex-friends': .
you'll find this little ditty of a news story very amusing.
it seems some overly-zealous sister from the uk was pestering the grieving worldly ones at the local cemetary so much that they got mad and complained to the cemetary owner, who then complained to the kh overseer.

avashi, My 9 month old is asleep in my arms... I am so sickened and enraged at the thought of ANYONE beating an 11 month old that I am shaking. Your poor brother, and poor little you! If anyone ever did that to my kids.... oh man, I can't even imagine... I guess I would try to have them charged with assault & battery and I would try to get a restraining order. Though my gut reaction is that I would do something far less civilized. ~Witch of the mama Tiger class

Overcoming CONversation Stoppers...
by Huxley indo you folks remember that section in the reasoning book?
i recall several service meeting parts where we were supposed to "keep pitching" after someone said, "i'm not interested.
cute, catchy little zingers like, "well our message is geared for busy people.".

Sad, isn't it? Like one of you said; in real life no means NO. In SALES situations salespeople are trained to get 3 "NOs" before they give up... but that is usually only effective on a salesfloor... where people have come to shop or browse anyway. Really jws should be thinking of telemarketers... do they really enjoy it when a telemarketer keeps pushing? But the GB who sets the rules is like the head of any other corporation; they don't care whether their insignificant salespeople are humiliated, yelled at or what not... they only care about sales! Forget the fact that all the rank and file are supposedly their cherished siblings... Gods, it makes me sick.... ~Witch

An Iraqi Story
by freedom96 ini was listening to the radio this morning, a local regular dj morning show.
they interviewed a guy who has lived here for 9 years, previously grew up for 40 years in iraq.
he told how life in iraq really is.. for those who say that under no circumstances should we go in and liberate iraq, i think this might make you re-think.. in no particular order:.

For backround purposes; I am a liberal, a peacemonger,I loathe Bush Jr and I don't trust him at all. That said Saddam Hussien is an evil, evil man and crushes his people into the dirt. I heard on an NPR news program about a man who obseved something near 30-40 executions carried out by Hussien. The method of execution was to feed the people into a machine designed to shred plastic. He said sometimes they were put in head first and died quickly, sometimes feet first and their screams ... were haunting. He will never erase them from his memory. I hate the way this war has come. Bush Jr has cost the USA many many allies. He has made us appear as outlaws refusing to submit to a world court and ignoring the UN. But there is no question in my mind that this war is nessesary. I just wish we would have waited until we had more support from other nations Now, I pray it will be over soon with few casualties and that our next president will work at redeeming the US in the eyes of the other nations. ~Witch
